Your Guide- Daryck Thompson, BA
Having cut my teeth on Vedic and Greek philosophy as a youth, deep, investigative, penetrative thought as always been important to me. I feel that if we want to get to the core of things, particularly in discovering ourselves, we must not only feel into the experience of such, but must also think and discern critically to truly be our whole selves, limiting as much delusion of ourselves and our conclusions as possible.
My journey into altered states began around 2008 while studying philosophy. My mind and sense of being was completely blown open in my first classical psychedelic journey of 7g of cubensis mushrooms. This was my initiation into the psychedelic fray. While my journey began with recreational use, it quickly became something that I could sense had so much more to discover through more intentional and mindful use. Aside from understanding the necessary influences of set and setting, I have also developed and honed a broad and strong skill-set for these spaces.
My path with psychedelics was further solidified through my first several journeys with DMT. Falling deeply and powerfully into the ineffable and ephemeral, I became fascinated by the dynamic nature of change that such an experience can elicit. A mysterious medicine that seems to have no upper limit.
I have for a long time had a focus on the mystical and shamanic and indigenous, finding that the phenomenological impacts of practices around the world to have elements of truth and great insight and understanding that lend themselves towards inner realization, growth, and healing.
Aside from a great deal of independent research and study as well as over 15 years of personal experience with psychedelics, I received my Bachelor's in Philosophy from the University of Denver. My studies have never ended, allowing me to broaden and diversify my mode of thought that aids in inner healing and exploration. I have also taken courses with Medicinal Mindfulness covering guidework, harm reduction, integration, and mindful and intentional psychedelic use.
Allowing critical thought and intuition to gracefully coalesce, I approach the work in an open-minded and non-dogmatic manner, using whatever elements appear apt and necessary for a given journeyer in a given context. This means that each journeyer and their journeys are treated contextually. This is why I employ more than one apparatus of protocol
I feel there is more than one way to do this work, and as such do my best to employ a variety of paradigms and modalities into the ceremonial experience to elicit and explore deep psychedelic and altered experiences. This includes ideals from various disparate practices, disciplines, and systems, including somatic awareness, elements from transpersonal psychology, clinical psychology, indigenous practices, mysticism and esoterism, and religion.
Psychedelics have personally helped me with my own self-discovery and development, as well as in healing my own traumas and coping with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. They continue to help me in these ways through the relationships that I have built with them, and through this relationship I deeply desire to share the magic of their healing with you.
I truly feel that each and every one of us has the right to use whatever tools are at our finger tips to discover and heal ourselves. That we all have the right to safely explore and navigate the spaces these substances can open up for us. Again, I also feel, deeply, that there is more than one right way to do this work, both for others and as an individual. I honor all who have contributed to the array of tools and practices that can be employed in this work, which spans the indigenous to the clinical and all those in between.
